Q : Will my engine’s safety and longevity be affected by the remapping?
A : Our re-mapping process enhances and optimises the power of the engine within safe limits, not beyond them. Extra power will also result in fewer gear changes.
Q : Why hasn’t my vehicle got the extra power as standard?
A : Manufacturers generally sell one vehicle that covers various markets, with different tax and emissions regulations, different climates with extremes of heat, cold, humidity, etc and different qualities of fuel.
Q : How long does it take and where will the work be carried out?
A : Depending on the type of vehicle the remap would normally take 1 - 1.5 hours for a car and up to 3 hours for a truck.
We can visit you at your home or place of work to install the remap.
Q : Do you keep a copy of the vehicle’s original file?
A : Yes. In secure archival storage, should you every require your vehicle put back to original.
Q : Can main dealers detect any changes to the vehicle?
A : No. It is invisible to their diagnostic equipment.
Q: What if the main dealer resets the vehicle’s ECU to standard during a service?
A: No problem. Just give us a call and we will come and install the remap again free of charge.
Q : What about insurance?
A : We advise that it is your responsibility to inform your insurance company of any modification to your vehicle. We are finding that more and more insurance companies are not penalising their customers for saving fuel and recognise our economy upgrades.
Q : Do you tune all vehicles?
A : We cover nearly all common petrol and diesel cars, vans, motor homes, trucks, etc.
Q : My vehicle is getting old and tired, can you still do it?
A : Before commencing with the remap we look to see if the vehicle has been well maintained and not showing any electronic or mechanical engine faults. Sometimes taking the vehicle for a quick test drive to make sure everything feels, sounds and looks ok before continuing.
Q : Is it an add-on box?
A : No. We do not fit add-on tuning boxes, which normally just interfere with engine management signals to trick the injectors into adding more fuel. Our service is a custom re-map of your ECU, the modified file is based on the original file read from your vehicle.
Q : Do you have a torque and BHP graph for my engine?
A: No we don’t. The reason we don’t is that it would be difficult to have an accurate original power and torque graph to match it against. The real experience is in the driveability of the car. If you are unhappy with the car when you test drive it then we will return it to standard and refund you any charges minus a £50 fitting charge.
If you really want a before and after dyno graph we can arrange this with a local company at cost for you.
Q : How will it affect my warranty?
A : There are no changes needed to any hardware because of engine remapping and it is both physically and diagnostically undetectable. We do not replace any components we overwrite the engine ECU (Electronic Control Unit) engine map, this is software.
Q : What warranty do you give on your work?
A : We change data held on a component of your car, we are not changing any hardware on the car. Therefore we have nothing to give a warranty on. However, we will do our best to help anyone who has a problem, including returning the car to standard for testing etc. If you’re not satisfied with the work done on your vehicle within the 14 day money back guarantee period then the remap can be removed, the vehicle returned to standard and your money returned minus a £50 fitting charge.
Q : Is there any risk to my vehicle?
A : Because any work done is localized entirely to the ECU, and is completely software based, there is only minimal risk to your car. In the unlikely event of something happening to your ECU during the process of remapping it, we will replace it.
Q : What about after 14 days or if I want to sell my car?
A : If you want the work reversed after this time we will do it for a £50 fitting charge. So for example, if in a year’s time you want to sell the car in its standard form just give us a call and arrange a time.
Q : Does it matter if my vehicle has a manual or automatic gearbox?
A : We've noticed pretty much equal gains between manual and automatic vehicles when remapping. In both cases, because of the increase in power and torque, you'll find either the vehicle or you needs to change gear less, making for a much smoother drive all round.
